Wisdom teeth are the third and final set of molars that erupt in the upper and lower back corners of adult mouths. Not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. For some people, wisdom teeth erupt and function normally and cause no problems. Unfortunately, most people experience problems with wisdom teeth. In most cases, the teeth erupt too close to existing permanent teeth, causing crowding, improper bites, and gum infection.
